Two lanes of southbound Interstate 5 and the Exit 147 off-ramp in Kent will close for construction from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sept. 3, 8 and 9.

Crews are working on the Federal Way Link Extension for light rail and will close the lanes from Kent Des Moines Road to South 272nd Street. The closure is needed so crews can set concrete barriers and build an access road for future light rail construction.

Sound Transit is extending light rail from SeaTac through Kent to Federal Way with a scheduled opening in late 2024.
