Kentwood to play top-seeded Graham-Kapowsin in football playoffs

Kentwood advanced in the Class 4A high school football playoffs with an overtime win against Woodinville and now will face Graham-Kapowsin, the top-seeded team in the state.

Kentwood, the No. 16 seed, has a 5-4 record and will play undefeated Graham-Kapowsin at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 at Art Crate Field at Bethel High School in Spanaway.

Last week in the opening playoff round, Kentwood beat Woodinville 17-14 in overtime on a 36-yard field goal. Graham-Kapowsin crushed Federal Way 63-6. Kentwood beat Federal Way 15-9 on Oct. 14 in a North Puget Sound League game.

The rankings for the tournament were decided by a Washington Interscholastic Activities Association committee, which includes coaches, athletic directors and others.

After opening the season with three losses, Kentwood has won five of six, with the only loss 21-10 to Kennedy Catholic.

The Conquerors beat Kentlake 45-28, Kentridge 14-7 and Tahoma 24-21.
