PREPS OF THE WEEK: Jan. 21 edition

JARON HECK, Kentlake

Grade: Junior.

Sport: Basketball.

Accomplishment: Heck has been one of the SPSL North’s steadiest players. He entered the week having scored 10 or more points in Kentlake’s first 13 games, and with a 20.2 points-per-game average.

Favorite class: U.S. History.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: (Teammate) Blake Griffin and I would serve barbecue chicken pizza. Greatest athletic moment: The first time dunking against Federal Way sophomore year.

Favorite movie: Ninja Assassin.

Most recent book read/author: “Into Thin Air” by Jon Krakauer. Currently playing on your iPod: Wiz Khalifa and Wale.

In 10 years I will be …: (Part of a) SWAT team.

JESSE DEHNERT, Kentwood

Grade: Junior.

Sport: Diving.

Accomplishment: On his 17th birthday two weeks ago, Dehnert, a diver, not only qualified for state, but also broke a 20-year-old school record. The Kentwood junior accumulated 333.50 points during the 11-dive Lakes Invitational, breaking the record of 328 established by Aaron Weston during the 1990-91 season.

Favorite class: AP Calculus.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: (Olympic diver) Greg Louganis. I am not sure what I would serve, but I would want to ask him what diving has meant to him through his life and if he would change anything if he could.

Most recent book read/author: “Freakonomics” by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner.

Greatest athletic moment: When I got out of the water after my last dive, looked at the scoreboard and realized that I had broken the school record.

Currently playing on your iPod: Primarily the radio, 106.1.

In 10 years I will be … : Although I have yet to decide my profession, in 10 years I would like to have a steady income and to have started or be starting a family.

Also: Outside of the pool, Dehnert has many interests, including music. An accomplished violinist, Dehnert was a second-place finisher at the 2010 Beatrice Herrmann Young Artist Recital Competition, is part of National Honor Society, ASB and Conk Crew.

CHASE BUBLITZ, Kentridge

Grade: Freshman.

Sport: Swimming.

Accomplishment: Bublitz won the 50 free, the 100 free and was part of Kentridge’s winning relay teams in a victory over Mount Rainier Tuesday. The win helped the Chargers extend their unbeaten streak to 46 straight SPSL North dual meets.

Favorite class: Spanish.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: Ryan Lochte, my favorite swimmer. I would have spaghetti with my mom’s homemade meat sauce, spinach and some sort of fruit pie.

Greatest athletic moment: Breaking 50 in the 100 free for the first time.

Favorite movie: Young Frankenstein.

Most recent book read/author: “God’s Army” by Ward Harris.

Currently playing on your iPod: Shuffling through hip-hop.

In 10 years I will be … : Training for the Olympics.

Also: Bublitz is also a member of the Chinook Aquatic Club and plays the trumpet.

MEGAN WYNNE, Kentwood

Grade: Senior.

Sport: Basketball.

Accomplishment: Wynne scored a career-high 14 points, leading the Conquerors past third-ranked Auburn Riverside Jan. 11 in a South Puget Sound League North Division showdown between top teams.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: My whole team because they’re the best. (I’d take them to) Red Robin.

Greatest athletic moment: My career-high of 14 points against AR.

Most recent book read/author: “The Lovely Bones” by Alice Sebold.

Currently playing on your iPod: Drake and Lil’ Wayne.

MATT BAILEY, Kent-Meridian

Grade: Senior.

Sport: Swimming.

Accomplishment: Bailey qualified for state in a pair of events, cruising to a time of 51.07 in the 100 free and delivering a 2:06.32 in the 200 IM.

Favorite class: Cooking.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite Maurice Greene and I would serve smoked salmon and noodles.

Greatest athletic moment: Making state in a sport (cross country) that wasn’t swimming.

Favorite movie: Friday Night Lights.
