The East County Blackshirts put the first 26 points of the game on the board on the way to a 26-7 victory against the King County Jaguars in a North American Football League game last Saturday at French Field.

Russell Schneider passed for three TDs for the Gresham, Ore., team.

The only score for the Jags (2-2) was a 16-yard run by Vernon Word.

The Jaguars have a bye this week, then head to Canada on Aug. 9 for a rematch against the British Columbia Spartans. B.C. rolled to a 43-6 victory against the Jags on July 12.

Big day at Emerald for Martinez

Jockey Seth Martinez made Mile Preview Day a record setting day at Emerald Downs.

Martinez won both stakes races on Sunday’s card and six of the 10 races overall – just the second rider in track history to take six in one day.

His collection included the $75,000 Mt. Rainier Handicap aboard Chhaya Dance, and the $75,000 Boeing Handicap aboard Shampoo.

The last jockey to pull a six-bagger was Kevin Radke on Sept. 2, 2002.
