Kentwood High School’s Rayvaughn Bolton was named Athlete of the Week for his achievements in basketball by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.
Bolton had 25 points, including four three-pointers, in Kentwood’s 64-54 victory over Cascade last Saturday in a regional game at Everett Community College. The win advanced the Conqueror’s to the Hardwood Classic at the Tacoma Dome.
Kentwood beat Issaquah 57-51 in the opening game of the 4A state WIAA championship tournament on Thursday night and face Curtis at 7:15 Friday in the semifinals.
Each week the WIAA recognizes twelve varsity athletes, a male and a female from each of the six classifications, who exhibited an outstanding performance the previous week.
Bolton was nominated by a community member and selected by WIAA staff for the honor.
Each Athlete of the Week winner receives a congratulatory letter from WIAA executive director, Mike Colbrese, a WIAA State Athlete of the Week T-shirt and a certificate. Winners are also posted to the WIAA website, wiaa.com.
