T-birds acquire Hughes from Oil Kings in exchange for draft pick

The Seattle Thunderbirds have has acquired goalie Liam Hughes from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the 2019 Bantam Draft.
“We are happy to add Liam to our team,” said general manager Russ Farwell. “He had good start in the league last year before being injured. He will be a solid addition at a very key position.”
Hughes has played in two preseason games this year and has a 0-1-0-0 record 4.19 goals against average and a .889 save percentage. Last season Hughes appeared in seven games with the Oil Kings and had a 1-4-2-0 record with a 3.26 goals against and a .895 save percentage.
The T-Birds open the Western Hockey League regular season against the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
