Kent-Meridian boys, Kentwood girls prevail in Les Schwab Tipoff Classic

Brandon Roque scored 13 points and Abdullah Abraham added 12, leading Kent-Meridian past Thomas Jefferson 61-57 in the Les Schwab Tipoff Classic at Auburn Riverside High School on Saturday.

The Royals (1-1) overcame a slow start to pull away from the Raiders (1-2).

In other games in the all-day tournament, the Kentwood girls routed Franklin Pierce 71-40.

The Conquerors (2-1) opened with an 11-0 run and used an effective full-court press the first half to build a big lead.

Loriaunna Sanchez and Nicole Ajay each had 20 points for Kentwood.
