City of Kent removes lifeguards from Lake Meridian Park due to arson fire

The city of Kent has removed lifeguards from Lake Meridian Park because of the arson fire early Thursday at the building that houses the office and equipment for the lifeguards.

City officials plan to have the lifeguards return at a date to be determined and expect to release more details later Thursday afternoon, according to city of Kent Facebook and Twitter posts.

Despite the fire, the city’s Fourth of July Splash celebration will go on as planned.
