Good neighbors noticed a small fire outside a mobile home and notified its residents who escaped without injury late Thursday night, the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority reported.
The fire, which happened around 11:18 p.m., damaged the unit at Meadows Mobile Home Park in the 24400 block of 64 Avenue South, Kent.
Two young men tried to put out the fire with a garden hose, but the fire moved under the home and quickly spread.
Puget Sound Fire Engine 71 arrived and was able to pull off a fire hose and quickly knock down the fire under the home. Additional units arrived, helped to make sure everybody was out safely and finished putting out the small fires.
Medic One and Zone 3 Rehab stood by, ready to assist. American Red Cross will be helping the family with their immediate needs.
The fire is under investigation.
