Stars sign free-agent midfielder Douglas Lima | MASL

The Tacoma Stars have signed MASL veteran midfielder Douglas Lima, the first free-agent pickup this offseason for the Kent-based club.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, per team and league policies.

Lima, a Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native, is coming off his best statistical season in which he tallied 18 points – 10 goals, eight assists – in 14 games with the Turlock Express.

Previously, Lima spent two seasons with the Ontario Fury. He picked up eight goals, three of which were game-winners, and one assist in 29 games with the Fury.

Last season the Stars won a close race with Ontario for the second playoff spot in the Pacific Division.

“Douglas is a young, exciting player with tremendous talent and desire. We believe he can help us achieve our goals for years to come” Stars coach Nick Perera said.
