AVERY KAIN, Kentwood

Grade: Junior.

Sport: Baseball.

Accomplishment: Kain saved his best for last, pitching a complete-game shutout in leading the Conquerors past Richland for the Class 4A state title. Favorite class: AP Calculus.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite Eric Chavez (of the Oakland A’s), Andre Ethier (of the Los Angeles Dodgers) and Jesus Christ and I would serve ribs.

Greatest athletic moment: Throwing a 2-hit shutout in the state championship game.

Most recent book read/author: “Catch 22” by Joseph Heller.

What’s on your iPod?: Blue Scholars.

Also noted: Kain already has committed to play baseball after high school on scholarship at Washington State University.
