Firefighters extinguished a kitchen fire at a Kent house and rescued three kittens.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 3:24 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 to a fire in the 12200 block of SE 206th St., according to an Aug. 16 email from Puget Sound Fire spokesperson Pat Pawlak. The house sits in a neighborhood west of Kentridge High School.

Fifteen fire personnel responded and put out the fire in about 15 minutes, Pawlak said. Nobody was injured.

“This was an accidental fire,” Pawlak said. “An unattended pan was left on the stove with the burner on.”

American Red Cross is assisting the family with immediate needs, Pawlak said.

Firefighters located and safely brought out three kittens, Pawlak said. The kittens are doing well.
