Order up: Dick’s Drive-In now open in Federal Way

Opened July 27 at The Commons Mall at South 320th Street and Pacific Highway South

Dick’s Drive-In opened July 27 at The Commons Mall in Federal Way, marking the latest expansion of the well-known Seattle area fast-food standby.

Burgers, shakes and fries attracted a line of fans who assembled that morning for the grand opening.

Federal Way is Dick’s ninth location and its farthest south. Five of the Dick’s Drive-Ins are in Seattle, and the other three are in Edmonds, Bellevue and Kent. The Federal Way location, 32048 Pacific Highway S., will employ 12.

“We’ve wanted to build a Dick’s Drive-In here since our first South Sound search in 2017,” said Jasmine Donovan, president and CEO of Dick’s and granddaughter of founder Dick Spady.

Almost 70 years after the first Dick’s opened, the company still intends to lay down roots where it places new restaurants, said Donovan.

“We’re continuing the legacy of my grandfather,” Donovan said.
