Children got a chance to find out about medical exams at the annual Puget Sound Fire Teddy Bear Clinic in Kent designed to ease fears about going to the doctor.
Children received their own free teddy bear at the May 17 event at Puget Sound Fire Station 74, 24611 116th Ave. SE. They then took the bear for a wellness check with a firefighter or medic.
“Some of the teddy bears needed a little TLC and others needed a bit more care with splints and bandaging,” according to Puget Sound Fire.
Additional activities included taking photos, climbing aboard a fire engine and an aid car, button making, spraying a fire hose, trying on firefighter gear and more.
Community partners who assisted Puget Sound Fire at the clinic included Warm 106.9 Radio, Covington Police, Covington Parks & Recreation, Guide Dogs for the Blind – Kent Puppy Raisers, Kent Public Works, Kent Momco, Kent Youth and Family Services, King County E-911, King County Public Library System, Mom’s Day Out, Open Doors for Multicultural Families, Puget Sound Fire Emergency Management, Safe Kids – Seattle King County, SeaTac Police, Tri-Med Ambulance, Traffic Zero – King County Traffic Safety Coalition, and the Zone 3 Fire Cadets.
