Heavier Than Air Family Theatre presents ‘Fiddler on the Roof’

Heavier Than Air Family Theatre Company is serving up the quintessential Broadway musical, “Fiddler on the Roof”, this holiday season.

The musical premieres at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 on the main campus of Green River College, 12401 SE 320th St., Auburn, and runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday through Dec. 17.

Local musician Amanda Baskin is the Fiddler whose sounds match the mood of a colorful community in a far off land. With a brilliant mix of laughter, warmth and inspiration, a poignant story is told through song.

Set in the tiny village of Anatevka on the eve of Russian revolution, Heavier Than Air’s sizable cast captures the hopes, dreams and struggles of a people clinging to traditional values in the face of a changing world. The Tony Award-winning show is rich in historical detail and has danced its way into the hearts of audiences for over 50 years.

With fathers and daughters, husbands and wives all crooning beloved songs like “Sunrise, Sunset”, “Matchmaker”, “If I Were a Rich Man”, and, of course, the iconic “Tradition”, Fiddler on the Roof is a tale of tradition that has become a tradition itself.

Tickets are $10, $12 at the door.
