Kent’s Saar Pioneer Cemetery will be the site of a dramatic performance this weekend describing some of the area’s individual settlers.

Titled “A Living History Performance,” and using professional actors from Seattle’s Book-It Repertory Theatre, the event has three performance times which as of Thursday evening had not yet been sold out: 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

On Thursday, the actors had a dress rehearsal at the Kent Historical Society’s Bereiter Mansion, attended by a few dozen local history volunteers and family members of some of the pioneers buried at Saar.

“A Living History Performance” is a play based on historical research into the individual lives of several of Kent’s earliest settlers, who are buried in the old cemetery, located near Winco at 91st and 212th Way in Kent.

Admission is $10 per person and people should contact Karen Bouton at forscher@comcast.net, or call 253-850-2777 for ticket information.

The event is made possible with support from 4Culture Heritage and Arts Specific Site Information.

You also can learn about the Saar Cemetery by contacting the Kent Historical Museum at (253) 854-4330.
