The Portland-based dance troupe BodyVox comes Saturday to Kent with a distinctive blend of dance, cinema and comedy.

The troupe performs 7:30 p.m. at the Kentwood High Performing Arts Center, 25800 164th Ave. S.E., in Covington.

According to a press release from its organizers, BodyVox entertains audiences with physicality, striking imagery, wit and whimsy.

The troupe’s artistic directors Jamey Hampton and Ashley Roland are known figures on the world dance stage, through their years working as creators and performers with innovative dance companies Momix, ISO Dance, and Pilobolus.

Created in 1997 to fulfill a commission from Portland Opera, BodyVox has since choreographed three operas, created six original shows, and toured across the U.S. to critical acclaim.
