Enumclaw man driving stolen vehicle injured in Kent collision

Reportedly driving wrong way at high rate of speed Oct. 3 along Kent-Kangley Road

A wrong-way driver in a stolen vehicle suffered serious injuries in a 1:21 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3 collision in the 104oo block of Kent-Kangley Road in Kent.

A 27-year-old Enumclaw man suffered significant injuries, including a possible hip fracture, when a 2018 Subaru Forrester he was driving collided with another vehicle and ended up on its side, according to an Oct. 6 Kent Police Facebook post. Officers found the man lying on a nearby sidewalk after responding to a 911 call about the collision. Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital.

The man faces multiple charges, according to police.

Paramedics transported a 46-year-old Kettle Falls man, the driver of the other vehicle, to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. That man told an officer he was headed eastbound on Kent-Kangley Road when the Forrester came westbound into his lane and hit him head on.

Witnesses to the collision told officers that the Forrester had been traveling in the oncoming eastbound lanes at a high rate of speed, according to police. One witness provided dash cam video reportedly showing the Forrester in the wrong lanes.

The Forrester had been reported stolen to Kent Police about about 1:37 p.m. Oct. 2 from a restaurant along East Smith Street. An Enumclaw man, 83, reported he was inside the restaurant eating and saw his vehicle leaving, according to police. He said he had locked the vehicle and did not leave his keys inside. He did not see the suspect who took the vehicle.
