Editor’s note: This is an excerpt from the Tacoma News Tribune. Watch for local updates to this story in the Kent Reporter. A Kent man was killed Saturday night when he lost control of his motorcycle, crashed and was struck by three vehicles as he lay in the roadway.
The accident shut down eastbound lanes of Highway 512 until 5 a.m. Sunday.
The victim was identified by the Washington State Patrol as James P. Suddoth, 57. He died at the scene. Suddoth was riding his 2007 Harley-Davidson Road King east on Highway 512 near 94th Avenue East when he apparently lost control while changing lanes and veered off the road, striking a cable barrier.
He was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway, where he was struck by three vehicles. The driver of the first, a light-colored four-door sedan, fled the scene. The driver is being sought by police.
