Kent Police arrested a 19-year-old Federal Way man for allegedly shooting and injuring a 58-year-old Kent woman at a home in the 24200 block of 94th Avenue South.
Officers responded at about 2:28 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5 in reference to men trying to kick in the door of the residence, according to a Feb. 5 Kent Police news release.
The 911 caller said three men had guns and one was possibly known to them, according to police. Just prior to the arrival of officers, dispatch advised that shots had been fired inside the residence and a woman had been shot. The caller said the men fled in a silver Volkswagen Jetta.
Multiple Kent officers flooded to the area, and an incoming patrol officer spotted the Jetta attempting to leave the neighborhood. Officers conducted a high-risk vehicle stop and detained all three men without further incident.
Police arrested a 19-year-old Federal Way man after he was reportedly identified as a shooter. Video evidence of the incident showed that at least six shots were fired, according to police. The other two men, a 20-year-old Federal Way man and a 19-year-old Seattle man, were detained and interviewed by detectives. Police arrested one of the men on a warrant.
The woman sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, received medical attention at the scene, and then was transported to a local hospital, according to police. It was later discovered that some of the bullets also hit the home.
Detectives are conducting an investigation to determine what led up to the shooting and what additional charges are appropriate.
