A Kent man was fatally shot early Sunday morning, Dec. 8 in the Cloud 9 Bar parking lot, 806 Central Ave. S.

Demetrius M. Marr-Woods, 27, died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office Dec. 9 report, which ruled the manner of death as homicide. Initial Kent Police reports had the age of Marr-Woods as 22.

Officers responded at about 12:41 a.m. after numerous 911 calls about a shooting outside the bar, according to a Dec. 8 Kent Police news release.

Witnesses reported they were in the bar, heard the shooting and exited to the parking lot, according to police. The man was on the ground and had been shot in the head.

Officers and medics arrived within minutes but medics pronounced the man dead shortly after their arrival, according to police.

Detectives responded to the scene to take over the investigation. They are gathering statements and evidence to identify the suspect and determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting. Based off the initial information received, the shooting does not appear to be a random incident, according to police.
