Man fatally shot at Kent park and ride lot near ShoWare Center

Shots fired Sunday night, Nov. 23 at James Street Park and Ride

A man was fatally shot Sunday night, Nov. 23 in Kent at the James Street Park and Ride lot, 900 W. James St., just west of the accesso ShoWare Center and east of Highway 167.

Officers were dispatched about about 8:46 p.m. to the parking lot after reports of sounds of a firearm being discharged, according to a Monday, Nov. 24 Kent Police news release, which described the death as a homicide. The initial caller said they heard several gunshots followed by a few more, and then the sound of a vehicle leaving quickly.

Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, a yet to be fully identified adult male with several wounds, and immediately began lifesaving measures, according to police. Puget Sound Fire arrived and took over emergent medical care but the man died at the scene.

Kent detectives are investigating the incident and awaiting confirmation of the man’s identity. No arrests have been made. If anyone has any information about this incident, call the Kent Police tip line at 253-856-5808 or send an email to KPDTipLine@KentWA.gov.

This marks the eighth homicide in 2025 in Kent, according to police.

There were no events Sunday night at the ShoWare Center, according to its website. Fans use the park and ride lot for events at the arena. The Seattle Thunderbirds junior hockey team had a game at the arena on Saturday night, Nov. 22.
