SR 516 overnight closures in Kent set for light rail bridge deck work

Feb. 28, March 1-2 between Interstate 5 and Pacific Highway South

Sound Transit’s contractors will close State Route 516 (Kent-Des Moines Road) from Intestate 5 to SR 99 (Pacific Highway South) for light rail bridge deck construction on three nights.

SR 516 will be closed in both directions on the night of Feb. 28 and then closed directionally on the nights of March 1 and 2, according to Sound Transit.

The full closure is from 10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28 through 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 1. An eastbound closure is planned for 10 p.m. March 1 through 5 a.m. March 2 and a westbound closure from 10 p.m. March 2 through 5 a.m. March 3.

Crews will try to reduce noise when possible. Detours will be in place via South 272nd Street throughout duration of closures. Cranes, trucks, and other heavy equipment will be in use in work area.
