Troopers arrest wrong-way driver on State Route 167 near Kent

Head-on collision Saturday, March 30 injures two

The Washington State Patrol arrested a 23-year-old Federal Way woman for investigation of vehicular assault after she reportedly injured another driver in a head-on collision while driving the wrong way on State Route 167 just south of Kent.

Troopers responded at about 2:49 a.m. Saturday, March 30 to reports of a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of State Route 167 near Ellingson Road, according to the State Patrol.

Troopers listed DUI as the cause of the crash as the woman was reportedly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 32-year-old Puyallup woman, and the Federal Way woman were each transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to the State Patrol. The Federal Way woman remained in satisfactory condition on Monday, April 1, according to a hospital spokesperson. The other woman was not admitted to the hospital.

The Federal Way woman was driving a 2001 Subaru Impreza. The Puyallup woman was driving a 2021 Toyota RAV. Both vehicles were totaled. There were no passengers.
