Renton Police investigate drive-by shooting near Hazen High School

At least two unidentified teens in a red vehicle shot at, but did not injure, a man driving an SUV.

At 1:17 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, Renton Police officers responded to a report of a drive-by shooting near Northeast 12th Street and Duvall Avenue in the Highlands.

A man told police that at least two teenagers in an unidentified red vehicle shot at and struck his SUV, according to Renton Police. Though the man was not injured, police asked the nearby Hazen High School to briefly lock its exterior doors and to keep students and staff inside.

“Our perimeter doors are already locked, so the school locked the front door and secured the breezeway,” said Renton School District spokesperson Randy Matheson.

Matheson said this only lasted a few minutes and that neither classes nor after-school activities were disrupted.

Police said it remains an open investigation.
