Vintage cars muscle into Kent

American muscle cars of the 1960s and 1970s – such as the Plymouth Barracuda, Chevrolet Impala and Pontiac GTO – will be on display Saturday at Muscle Car Madness IV in Kent.
The show is free to the public and features high-performance cars built between 1960 and 1974 that were powered by V8 engines and generally considered affordable. Muscle Car Madness IV also will present several drag/factory racing cars, including some that will be started in the noon hour.
Non-muscle cars are again invited to participate in the show, which also will feature music from the muscle cars era. Thirty trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. to cars in categories based on year, manufacturer and whether they are stock or have been modified.
Also scheduled to appear is 18-year-old drag racer Jeannine Johnson of Puyallup and her new Super Pro alcohol dragster, which has reached 170 mph in quarter-mile races. Children will have the opportunity to get their picture taken in the dragster. A donation of at least $2 is suggested and all proceeds will go to Children’s Hospital, where Johnson is a former patient.
All proceeds from the show will support uncompensated care at Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center in Seattle. Last year’s show drew more than 100 cars and raised $4,100 for Children’s Hospital.
Muscle Car Madness IV will take place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Kent TOP Food & Drug, 26015 104th Ave. S.E.
Pre-registration costs $15 per car and is strongly recommended. The first 100 pre-registered cars each will receive a “goodie” bag. Registration on the day of the show is $20 and begins at 8 a.m. at the Kent TOP Food & Drug.
