BASEBALL

Standings are as of Friday, April 17

SPSL NORTH STANDINGS: Tahoma 8-1 (9-2); Kentwood 7-1 (8-1); Kentlake 6-2 (7-2); Kentridge 5-3 (5-5); Jefferson 4-5 (6-6); Auburn Riverside 3-6 (4-8); Federal Way 3-6 (5-7); Auburn 2-6 (3-9); Kent-Meridian 0-8 (0-8).

PLAYOFF PICTURE: The top five teams in the SPSL North advance to the postseason. No team has yet clinched a playoff berth, but Tahoma can do so with three more wins.

PIVOTAL UPCOMING GAMES: On Tuesday at 4 p.m., Kentridge plays host to Kentlake. Kentlake has won six straight and has posted double-digit runs in each of those wins. Kentridge’s four-game winning streak came to an end this past Thursday when it dropped both ends of a double header to Kentwood. Kentlake travels to Tahoma on Wednesday (April 22) for a 4 p.m. showdown between two teams that finished tied atop the North last season. On Friday, April 24 at 4 p.m., Kentridge will play host to Thomas Jefferson in a game that should carry plenty of playoff ramifications. Kentridge will need a win to avoid falling back into the mess that has become the fifth, sixth and seventh-place slots in the North.
