A Kent fire investigator is currently on scene to begin looking into the cause of a fire in the 11900 block of SE 270 Street that was first reported at 7:06 p.m.
When Kent firefighters first arrived, they found the abandoned two story house with flames coming from several areas.
It took approximately 30 minutes to control the fire, which was fought from the outside in a “defense” mode because of its abandoned state. Once the flames were largely extinguished, firefighters went inside to search for any victims.
No one was found in the house. Because of the stout construction of the older house, firefighters will be on scene for several more hours mopping up.
Several juveniles were seen leaving the area at the time of the fire but it is unclear whether they were involved.
Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call the Kent Fire Department at 253-856-4300.
The Kent Fire Department received assistance from King County Medic One, King County Fire District 20’s .
