Kentridge’s football season got off to a rocky start Thursday night.

Heralded South Kitsap exploded for a 40-0 romp over the Chargers in a season-opening nonleague game at French Field.

Kentridge lost several fumbles, fueling the Wolves’ fast-running offense.

South Kitsap darted to a 26-0 halftime lead and didn’t look back. Cooper Canton threw three touchdown passes and Marshaud Dewalt ran for two more.

Kentridge returns to action next Thursday, Sept. 12, against Auburn Riverside in a South Puget Sound League North 4A opener at French Field. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
