An estimated 60,000 people throughout South King County and North Pierce County remained without power as of this morning, according to Puget Sound Energy.
Utility crews had already restored power to more than 80,000 customers, but more than 50,000 remained without power as of 8 a.m. today, PSE said.
That number included large areas of the East Hill in Kent. Five major outages impacted nearly 11,000 customers.
PSE said the last customers to have power restored in South King County could be as late as noon Friday.
All schools in the Kent, Auburn, Enumclaw and Tahoma districts, and the Muckleshoot Tribal schools, and five schools in Federal Way were closed without power. Dozens others were delayed.
Fallen trees had blocked Highways 164, 161 and 169.
