Kent Covenant Church celebrates 21 years of Dessert Theatre with a production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Performances are 7 p.m. on April 22, 23, 29, 30, with a 3 o’clock matinee on May 1, at the church’s Carlson Center, 12010 SE 240th St.

The show features an expanded cast of 42 actors and singers, drawn from the church and Kent community. It is a multi-generational cast – ranging from ages 8 to 60. Accompanying the show will be an eight-piece band. The Biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colors is re-enacted in this delightful musical show.

Dessert Theatre started in 1996 with a small production, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” The small cast of six gathered in the new Carlson Center gym with minimal props and sets, a small musical combo and no microphones. KCC Dessert Theatre has come a long way since then – 20 shows, ranging from small plays to large-scale musicals (“Sound of Music” and “Fiddler on the Roof”, to name a few).

More than 20,000 people have attended performances and more than 300 people have been involved as cast, crew and orchestra members.

Tickets are $12 per person.
