GEM organizes benefit program

Glover Empower Mentoring presents its inaugural Always Bet on GEM Casino Night on Friday, June 23, a benefit for the nonprofit organization.

The event is from 7 to 11 p.m. at IBEW Local 46, 19802 62nd Ave. S., Kent.

The evening includes wine tasting, prizes, wag bags, a silent auction, entertainment, games and food.

Donations will help GEM expand the reach of its Summer Leadership Academy, which will be free to all participants, and build other mentorship programming.

GEM, a community-based organization, offers mentoring to young adults throughout Kent and South King County. Working together with the city of Kent and other community organizations, GEM provides mentoring (one-on-one, group, in-school and after-school), academic tutoring and life skills. Its mission is to inform, interact and inspire young adults.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $30 at the door and are available at brownpapertickets.com.
