“We wanted to see what her all-out foot speed was, so we took her out of her usual hurdle events on March 30 and put her in the 100 and 400 meters. Emma ran a 12.43 seconds in the 100 for the ninth best mark so far (through April 4) this year in state. She ran a 58.00 in the 400 for the second fastest mark in state, a new sophomore record and third fastest in Kentwood history. Emma is on pace to have a stand-out year this year. She works hard every day with zero complaints. With her success, she remains very grounded and humble. She is a shining example of a student athlete. And while she is posting excellent times, she maintains a 4.00 GPA. Emma also has the state’s third-best time so far in the 300 hurdles at 46.82.”
