A red circle marks where a section of the Green River Trail in Kent is closed because of erosion.

A portion of the Green River Trail in Kent has been closed due to erosion and tension cracks in the pavement.

City officials closed the section on Feb. 21 just south of Van Doren’s Landing Park, near where the trail connects to Russell Road. Detour signs are in place to direct trail users on and off of Russell Road to avoid the area.

The recent heavy rains and flooding caused the damage, according to the City Public Works Department.
