18-year-old man fatally shot in Des Moines at Planet Fitness

Tuesday afternoon July 20; suspects at large

Des Moines Police are looking for suspects in the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man Tuesday afternoon at Planet Fitness, 27072 Pacific Highway S., in the Redondo area.

Officers were dispatched at about 3:30 p.m. July 20 to a shooting along with South King Fire and Rescue and Medic One. Emergency personnel began life-saving efforts on the man but he died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a Des Moines Police press release.

The suspects are described as a mixed race male and female. They fled in a car. Both suspects are outstanding and considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

Detectives continue to investigate what led to the shooting and the connection between the man and the suspects.

Planet Fitness is in the Redondo Square strip mall, which also includes a Safeway store and Jack in the Box among other businesses.
