Chief to captain, past to present

Kent Police Chief Ken Thomas recently paid a surprise visit to see Mike Grant, a former captain in the Kent Police Department, at his Farrington Court residence.

Grant, 81, a former fireman and dispatcher, worked with the Kent Police Department for 25 years before retiring in 1981.

Grant grew up on Vashon Island before establishing a career and raising a family in the Kent valley.

Grant enjoyed his visit with the chief, adding, “We talked about all sorts of things. … In this business, you have a thousand stories.”
