Kent Police Crime Prevention Unit earns state recognition

Washington State Crime Prevention Association names it Crime Prevention Unit of the Year

Kent Police Community Education coordinators Stacy Judd and Sara Hallstead were recently recognized by the Washington State Crime Prevention Association as the 2025 Crime Prevention Unit of the Year.

“They work with compassion and commitment to our community to strengthen the collaboration and build relationships with the police department,” according to a Sept. 25 Kent Police social media post about the honors.

Judd and Hallstead help set up Coffee with the Chief, Community Academy, Teen Academy, Block Watch 101, Business Watch, Game of Life, National Night Out and other programs.

In addition, Hallstead serves as the Target Zero Manager for King County working continuously to educate our community on pedestrian and traffic safety. Judd works with the Kent Police Student board to focus on youth health and wellness. Both have built relationships with local, state and national partners to bring impactful programs to Kent.

The Washington State Crime Prevention Association had its 47th annual conference and awards ceremony Sept. 16-18 at Heathman Lodge in Vancouver. The nonprofit association is based in Spokane County and its members include law enforcement agencies across the state.
