Pedestrian dies after getting struck by vehicle in Kent

A 34-year-old pedestrian died after he was struck by a vehicle at about 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16 in the 11400 block of SE 208th Street in Kent.

Officers responded to a 911 dispatch about the collision and found a Renton man in the street unconscious and breathing, according to a Kent Police news release. He had sustained multiple injuries. Medics provided lifesaving efforts, including CPR. Medics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he died a short time later.

The driver of the vehicle, a 66-year-old Kent man, said that the pedestrian appeared in the roadway in front of his vehicle as he was eastbound on SE 208th Street, according to police. He said the man was not in a crosswalk and was not visible. The driver stayed on scene and was cooperative with officers.

The Kent Police Traffic Unit was called out to conduct the investigation. The unit examine all the circumstances that led up to the collision, according to police.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man.
