Kentlake gymnasts stay unbeaten with tri-meet win over Beamer and Bonney Lake

Senior Kayla Shira helped the Falcons add one more notch to their unbeaten streak this season with her 37.30 all-around first-place finish this past Monday at Kentlake.

Shira finished first in all four events, notching a 9.1 on the bars, a 9.7 on the beam, a 9.5 in the floor exercise and a 9.0 in the vault.

Teammate Brianne Gould finished second in the all-around with a 33.750 score. Gould was tied for second in the floor with a 8.7, and third on the beam with a 8.9.

Lynnsey Thielman made her return to the mat from a foot injury with a second place 8.6 finish on the beam. Falconm freshman Brenna Bickel finished third in the vault with a 8.40.

Todd Beamer’s Cassie Peterson was third all-around with a 32.950.

Kentlake posted 166.70 team points, followed by Todd Beamer with 161.90 and Bonney Lake with 13.20.

The Falcons will compete against Kentridge, Kentwood and Kent-Meridian in the all-city meet, at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday at Kentridge.
