Some recent activity in the downtown area of Kent has some hopeful about the days ahead.
Barbara Smith, executive director of the Kent Downtown Partnership reported the Multi-Service Center, owner of Titusville Station, finished some facade and exterior improvements recently.
“We think this is a big deal because so many businesses are not spending money,” Smith said.
The center applied for a facade improvement grant from the Kent Downtown Partnership through the business and occupation tax incentive program.
The program provids a Business & Occupational Tax credit or Public Utility Tax credit for businesses that contribute to eligible downtown organizations.
The contributing business is also eligible for a tax deduction for a charitable contribution.
“This is a program to help revitalize downtowns,” Smith said “That is why we are here. To help revitalize downtown.”
